Years 3 - 6 - 'Young Voices' at the O2 - 11 January
‘This afternoon, the West Lodge Choir went to the O2 Arena in London, to sing at the ‘Young Voices’ concert. We arrived just after 1.30 pm and we did 3 rehearsals before the concert. A couple of minutes before the concert started we were given T-shirts which we put on. There were lots of schools taking part, and at 7 pm some of the lights went out and it got very dark! We all sang the songs very well. My favourite was, ‘Golden Musical Memories’. We also listened to the singer Josh Oisho, watched the street dancers, ‘Urban Strides’ and the singing group, ‘All Angels’. The we listened to Dionee Bromfield. I really enjoyed my day at the O2 Arena, and when we got home it was really late.’

‘The West Lodge Choir from Year 3 to Year 6 went to the O2 Arena to sing with other schools. We sang many songs and we nearly knew all of them. Some of the songs we had not heard before, but we learnt them quickly so when we went to sing them, we were excellent. We went there by coach and entered the O2 about 2 pm in the afternoon and were given some t- shirts with the name ‘Young Voices’ printed on them. There were 8000 children and 1200 adults in the hall. We sang a tribute to Michael Jackson and a boy from a dance group danced like Michael Jackson. There were some girls that sang, they called themselves, ‘All Angels’. I really enjoyed the whole day.’

'This afternoon we went to sing at the 02. I was very excited because this was my first time singing at the 02. When we arrived, after 45 minutes on the coach, the size of it amazed me. It was very spacious.
When we went into the 02 arena, we met our lovely conductor ‘David Lawrence’. He was really great; I still don’t know how he can control so many children at once! I know I can only control three sisters at once! It took a long time to rehearse but that was fun. Only children aged 7+ were allowed to take part in this event. The concert had many different acts including singing and dancing.
My favourite part of the performance was when we sang the Michael Jackson tribute. There was even a fake Michael Jackson to dance the moves. (Some of us thought he was better than the real Michael Jackson.)
Overall all I had a good time!'

'Today the West Lodge choir got onto a coach at 12:45pm and went to the O2 arena in London. When we got there we went into the stadium and took our seats, ready for rehearsal. We met the conductor which was fun. After we had rehearsed we left the stadium and had something to eat. Then, after we had eaten we returned to our seats and waited for the concert to begin.
Then the lights turned off and then suddenly lights were shining on us and we began to sing the first song. The first song we sang was called ‘This is the Moment.’ Then we sang a song called ‘Snow Business.’ After that the first guest performed two songs. Then we sang ‘Golden Musical Memories. ’ Then we sang a few more songs and the concert had ended.
My favourite song was called ‘Pop Medley.’ I think it was a good experience. I really want to do it again.'

'On the 11th of January 2011 West Lodge Choir went to the O2 Arena along with a lot of other schools. When we arrived, we went into the O2 arena and then rehearsed all our songs. After we had finished rehearsing, we had our packed lunch. We then had to put our young voices t-shirts on.
Next we went into the Arena and sat down on our seats. We sang with Josh Osho, All Angles and Dionne Broomfield. Also dancing with us was The Urban Strides. We sang 14 songs and some of them were with the singers. Our conductor was David Lawrence. My favourite songs were pop melody and the Michael Jackson Tribute. I enjoyed the concert and it was a very good experience for me!'
