Year 5 & 6 - Barbican Concert - 13 October

'Today Year 5 & 6 went to London to go to the Barbican.  It was a long journey to the Barbican so straight after we arrived we had lunch at some tables outside.  Then we went inside and down a couple of flights of stairs and then went into a big hall to listen to the LSO, (London Symphony Orchestra).  the first piece of music was from a film called '633 Squadron' which was about a fighter pilot.   Next we listened to two pieces from Harry Potter, the first was Hedwig's Theme then 'Nimbus 2000' which only used the woodwind section.  We then sang a song while the LSO played 'Rawhide'.  After that we sang Alice's Theme from the new film, 'Alice in Wonderland'.  Then the orchestra played the themes from 'King Kong' and 'Pirates of the Caribbean' finishing with the well-known music from 'Star Wars'.

'Year 5 & 6 visited the Barbican in connection with our music lessons.  The orchestra was the London Symphony Orchestra, (abbreviation LSO0, and they played 7 songs for us which were all from different movies, including two from Harry Potter, 'Hedwig's Theme' and 'Nimbus 2000'. We also heard music from 'Jaws', 'Star Wars', 'Pirates of the Caribbean' and '633 Squadron'.  Although the concert hall was small it was great that we were quite close to the front.  We also sang along with songs called 'Rawhide' and from 'Alice in Wonderland', following the words displayed on a big screen. Personally, I most enjoyed the music from 'Jaws' but the whole concert was enjoyable and very good.
