Art & Design Technology

Art & Design Technology Co-ordinator - Mrs Sarah Hammond

Art and Design Technology is taught in a designated studio by either the Class Teacher or by the Art and Design Technology Teacher and Co-ordinator. We work closely with the QCA Documents, covering the units as set out.

The children are encouraged to work independently and have the use of the many different materials, media and equipment that are available. We also research subjects, by the use of the Internet and can print out valuable information from the classroom computer facilities.

All of the classes from Nursery to Year 6 participate in educational visits which have included the National Gallery. Other visits including those to Environmental centres and theatres provide very valuable cross-curricular opportunities to enhance their Art and Design Technology lessons.

A wide variety of Art and Design Technology work from all year groups is regularly entered into competitions in the London Borough of Bexley including Hall Place and the annual Hurst Show as well as those associated with Independent Schools such as the prestigious I.S.A. London South Show and for which we have regularly won an awards.
