Science Co-ordinator – Mrs Heather Pickering

Science in KS2 is taught in a designated science laboratory by Form Teachers and in classrooms in KS1, under the guidance of a science specialist.

The QCA syllabus and guidelines are followed closely and the children’s progress is assessed regularly. Emphasis is placed on the practical aspects of the subject, with the children carrying out investigations wherever appropriate.

Educational visits are regularly arranged to suitable venues to enhance the science curriculum. In recent times, these have included High Elms, the National Maritime Museum, Down House and the Seven Sister’s Country Park in Sussex. We also have visits from outside agencies for example the Herstmoncieux Science Centre.
