P.S.C.H.E.

P.S.C.H.E. Co-ordinator – Miss Sally Humphries

At West Lodge we believe that education in P.S.C.H.E. and citizenship enables children to become healthier, more independent and responsible members of society.

Our pupils are encouraged to play a positive role in contributing to the life of the school and the wider community. The children help to organise and contribute too many charitable and local events and in so doing, we help to develop their sense of self-worth.

At school the children are taught how society is organised and governed as well as about their rights and responsibilities. This learning is enhanced by trips to interesting and educational places and visiting speakers and organisations are often invited into the school to talk to the children. Our pupils learn to appreciate what it means to be a positive member of a diverse and multi-cultural society.

The teaching of P.S.C.H.E. and citizenship helps in many ways to meet the objectives set out in The Children's Act 2004 ('Every Child Matters') – that children 'be healthy, stay safe, enjoy and achieve, make a positive contribution, and achieve economic well-being'.
